Spireites player of the month: Dan Gardner!

In a month to forget for us Chesterfield fans, there haven't really been any players who have performed at a consistently high level. However, Dan Gardner, who previously came under lots of criticism from me and lots of other fans, has shown his talent this month and probably looked our most dangerous in several games.

Spireites News Reviews and Opinions Player of The Month: Dan Gardner

The winger had a great start to the month, scoring a fantastic goal against Wigan and probably being our best player on that day as well. The next week, he had another decent game against Colchester, looking dangerous throughout, and providing the assist for Lee Novak's first goal in a town shirt. After that, in a game with few good performances against Coventry on the 19th, he looked good for the majority of the game, even with the likes of O'Shea and Morsy looking out of sorts. A week later he put another good shift in against league leaders Burton, sending in the corner which led to Sam Hird's 2nd minute opener. And against Blackpool, well no one really did anything and I don't want to talk about that game.

So in my opinion Garnder has been our top player this month. Morsy, O'Shea and Blake have all had a quiet month, and it seems like Gardner is able to provide the goods when the top players just aren't performing.

Gardner's September match ratings:

Wigan: 8/10
Colchester: 7/10
Coventry: 7/10
Burton: 7/10
Blackpool: 5/10
